Taking Climate Action

Our actions are part of the solution.

We are taking action

The need for effective climate action has never been more pressing which is why we have integrated climate action into our 7 commitments. It is critical for fostering a resilient future, protecting ecosystems, and ensuring social and economic equity by:

  • Transitioning to sustainable energy
  • Enhancing the sequestration through land restoration projects
  • Creating community benefits including opportunities for leisure and wellbeing
  • Hybrid Greens Mower

Our new hybrid mower has an 18.5kW internal combustion engine which is supplemented with power from a self-recharging 48vdc battery system and generator.
In standard mowers, only about half of the energy generated is converted into output energy. The new hybrid mower can collect the excess energy and store it to be used later. Here are just a few benefits of transitioning to a hybrid mower:

    • Lower Emissions: Hybrid mowers typically produce fewer emissions compared to diesel mowers, contributing to improved air quality and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
    • Quieter Operation: Hybrid mowers tend to operate more quietly than diesel mowers, reducing noise pollution.
    • Fuel Efficiency: Hybrid mowers use a combination of electric and diesel power, which can lead to significant fuel savings. The electric component often handles lighter tasks, reducing the overall reliance on diesel fuel.
    • Adaptability: Hybrid technology allows for versatility in mowing conditions, enabling the mower to handle various terrains and grass types effectively.
  • Waste Management

A recent waste audit highlighted the areas that needed improvement including:

    • Increasing the number of recycling bins throughout the course and clubhouse
    • Reducing our general waste and recycling bins from 50/50 to 30/70 (respectively)
    • Organising the proper collection and disposal of empty chemical containers.

As a result anaerobic digestion has increased by 25%,  and recycled waste has increased by 33%!

  • Supply Chain Engagement

Some of our key suppliers have reduced deliveries by one a week, saving on emission fuels.
    We are committed too:

    • Working with suppliers to reduce the amount of waste coming to site and improve recycling rates.
    • Working with suppliers to identify carbon emissions from our value chain and work with them to reduce our scope 3 emissions.
